About Us:
London Tibetan Productions is an independent and non-profit Tibetan group which aims to preserve, promote and record Tibet’s rich ancient and modern culture through today’s audio-visual medium. Any Tibetan or Tibetologist, Tibetan supporter, and other people interested in Tibet can join this team and contribute in the fields of audio-visual interaction.
Activities we do:
London Tibetan Productions endeavours to record, release and archive materials relating to Tibet and Tibetans. The aim is to provide Tibetans in the UK a platform to demonstrate and record their skills, talents and ideas. London Tibetan Productions works towards making cds, videos and other audio-visual materials available to a wide audience for education about Tibet and its rich culture.
Background:
In a world increasingly integrated through the use of modern and complex technologies, the means to interact, contact, entertain, exchange and spread messages have shifted dramatically from traditional methods to more modern communications. As most parts of the world are driven by technological communication systems, people are regularly using internet sites like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter for social entertainment and business purposes. There is an ever increasing use of the internet amongst Tibetans, both within Tibet and around the rest of the world, with some sites even in the Tibetan language.
Today, Tibetans face challenges to preserve and nourish their culture and traditions in this globalised world. The development of technological communications have created a platform where Tibetans in and outside Tibet can interact and unite. Amongst the many means of interaction, exchanges through song and music amongst Tibetans are increasingly important. Audio-visual interaction through YouTube and Tudou is a new way forward, and allows users to get messages to the wider audience with less effort
